Friday 29 & Sunday 31 July and Saturday 6 August, 1-5pm
Following on from the popularity of the ‘Planting and Using Herbs of the world’ workshop during ‘Hackney Adult Learners Week’, we are delighted that the Learning Trust are supporting us to offer three more free workshops for adults during July and August.
We will be exploring ways to use herbs to make effective remedies in the kitchen, including how to make infused oils, prepare ointments, and dry herbs. Along the way you will be able to learn more about growing and looking after herbs like rosemary, basil, mint, lemon verbena and lavender. Each workshop includes a guided walk around the Garden to see the herbs growing here.
The ‘Healthy Herbs’ workshops will be led by garden designer Marie Murray and professional gardener Jane Knowles. Jane spent 11 years at the Chelsea Physic Garden where she was responsible for propagation and the collection of medicinal plants and has spent the last five years as Head Gardener at the Royal College of Physicians redeveloping their Garden of Medicinal Plants. She likes exploring all that plants can do, as food, dyes and home remedies and she loves growing them.
The workshops are free but places are limited to ten people for each date, so do need to be booked in advance – to book a place for one of the dates, please fill in and submit the sign-up form
