Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 December 2012, 1-4pm
Join maker Laura Halliwell for two afternoons of free workshops where you can learn how to turn every-day objects such as paper bags, jam jars and cardboard boxes into beautiful lanterns and light-boxes, inspired by the magic of silhouette and shadow puppetry.*
Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult and as always, we recommend that parents and carers work together with younger children. You can just drop in and stay as long as you want.
* We will be displaying all the lanterns that are created in the workshops in the Garden during December for the ‘Festival of Light’. If you would like to make a lantern to take home as well as making some to decorate the garden, please bring along an extra jam jar!
The workshops will take place in the Garden’s new ‘Pineapple House’ which is fully enclosed and nice and cosy and our cafe will be serving hot chocolate and other warming winter treats.
The ‘Festival of Light’ is supported by Hackney Council and is free for all participants.
