The ‘Halloween Pumpkin Lantern Show’ at the end of October launched the ‘Festival of Light’ at the Garden – a series of events and activities to light up the Garden and brighten the dark winter days.
Now artist Nicola Plant will lead children and adults working together over three separate afternoons, learning how to bend natural willow to make giant lanterns that will be covered in brightly coloured tissue paper. Inspiration for the lanterns will come from the fruits, vegetables and seed pods that are grown in the Garden
The willow lanterns workshops will take place inside the Pineapple House and the Garden cafe will be serving hot drinks.
Children under 11 should be accompanied by an adult and we recommend that adults work together with young children.
The ‘Festival of Light’ is supported by Hackney Council and is free for all participants.
