Fantasy Creature Puppets
Monday 7 April 2014, 2-4pm
Did you know that the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden is built on an old Victorian railway line? We’ll be looking around for clues about its history and the creatures who live here now. Join artist Emily Tracy mixing up magical, mythical, and historical pictures to make paper puppets for performing in a weird and wonderful play.
Painting Pebbles for Plants
Tuesday 8 April 2014, 2-4pm
This Spring we plan to plant a bumper crop of herbs and vegetables. Help us mark out all our seeds and seedlings using paints and other materials to decorate pebbles to use as plant markers in this workshop led by artist Laura Halliwell. Make one for the Curve Garden and one to take home!
Butterfly Carnival Parade
Wednesday 9 April 2014, 2-4pm
We are marking the planned restoration of the Hackney Peace Carnival Mural, which is just outside the Garden, with a summer long series of events and activities. Starting with a celebration of Spring, work with artist Emily Tracy using drawing and collage to create a procession of fluttering moths and butterflies.
Pizza Making
Thursday 10 April 2014, 2-4pm
It’s time to get the outdoor clay oven fired up again for a pizza filled summer cooking with the fresh herbs and vegetables we grow in the Garden. Get cooking with David from Latto’s Pizzas!
Painting Pots
Friday 11 April 2014, 2-4pm
Join artist Yemi Awosile and help get the Garden ready for Spring by painting pots with your own designs inspired by nature. Stay and plant some seeds to pack the Garden full of giant bean stalks this summer.
There will be more free activities for children taking place 2-4pm, Monday 14 – Thursday 17 April – details to follow shortly.
The Easter workshops are most suitable for children aged 5 – 11, although younger children are very welcome, as long as a parent or carer works alongside them.
