Thursday 1 November 2012: 2-5pm

We are joining up with the Off Centre to celebrate the launch of ‘Chop it, Steam it, Bake it!’ their new cookery booklet for young people, with an afternoon of cookery and delicious food. The booklet has been developed by young people from the HYPOD (Hackney Young People Outdoors) project, who have been growing food at the Garden this year.  You can try out tasty recipes from the booklet, like ‘Pumpkin and Peanut-butter soup’ as well as learn how to make Caribbean Pudding. The oven will be lit and we will be cooking up the last of the Garden’s summer herbs and vegetables into delicious dishes. Yum yum!

Children under 11 years of age should be accompanied by an adult and we recommend that parents and carers work together with younger children.

Wednesday 31 October and Friday 2 November 2012: 2-4pm

As the leaves start to fall from the trees, help artist Nicola Plant transform the Garden’s ‘Pineapple House’ into an Autumn forest. You’ll be exploring the different leaf and tree shapes in the Garden, decorating ‘pop-up trees’ and creating your own leafy light projections.

The workshop is suitable for ages 5-12, although younger children are welcome to join in. Children under 11 years of age should be accompanied by an adult and as always, we recommend that parents and carers work together with younger children.

Children’s workshops are free, but donations towards costs are welcome!
