Sunday 8 May, 2.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm

Join Alison Benjamin from Urban Bees for a bee’s eye view of the flowers, trees and shrubs on a bee tour of Dalston Curve Garden. Alison describes the connection between bees and plants:

“They provide a smorgasbord of delights for the docile wild bees living in Hackney: from hairy-footed flower bees, to large bumblebees, tiny solitary bees and even ‘cuckoo’ bees“.

The bee tours will help you learn about why wild bees are so important, fascinating facts about bees, and the simple steps you can take to help support them.

There will be three bee tours taking place throughout the afternoon at 2.30pm, 3.30pm or 4.30pm. There’s no booking required, but spaces will be limited so arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Sunday 8 May 2022, 2-3pm and 3.30-4.30pm

Storyteller and Artist Kathryn Holt, will share the cautionary tale of a king who tried to control everything in his garden, but only ended up unhappy, until the bees helped him learn a very important lesson about nature…

You can join Kathryn for a free session at 2-3pm or at 3.30-4.30pm. Each session will begin with storytelling and then participants will be encouraged to get crafty at the making table, making paper bees and flowers inspired by the story.

These sessions are suitable for children aged 3 – 7yrs. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. There’s no booking but spaces are limited for each session, so we recommend you arrive early to avoid disappointment.
