Dalston Eastern Curve Garden remains open to the public for the moment. We will continue to offer a calm space where Hackney residents can walk or sit among nature. As we are an outdoor space, inline with other Hackney parks, visitors can continue to enjoy the physical and mental benefits of being outdoors, while still observing physical ‘social distancing’ from other people of 2 metres (as recommended in current Government guidelines).
Many of our regular visitors are already socially isolated and experiencing mental health challenges and we are aware that for some, the current emergency is adding to their anxieties. This knowledge has been a big factor in our decision to keep the Garden open at this time.
We are continuing to review Government advice, seek guidance from Hackney Council about public use of open spaces in the borough, and talking to our colleagues in other public parks and gardens about the best approaches we can all take at this time to support the health and well-being of our communities.
During this stage of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are also looking for ways to offer as much help as we can to our many regular vulnerable Hackney visitors. Please let us know if you can help or have any suggestions.
In order to remain open we are taking the following approach:
Our indoor Greenhouse and covered pavilion area will be closed until further notice.
We are operating more frequent and intense cleaning and sanitising of all surfaces and equipment.
If you are planning to visit the Garden, we are asking all of you to work with us to keep yourselves and our community safe by:
- Staying at home if you have a temperature or cough (If any person in your household has a persistent cough or fever, everyone living there must stay at home for 14 days)
- Washing your hands more regularly and for 20 seconds each time.
- Not gathering in the Garden in groups of more than 5 people.
- Not congregating in our entrance area.
- Observing ‘social distancing’ advice – keeping 2 metres away from other people in the Garden.

We have given much thought to our decision to keep the Garden open and we will be constantly reviewing it, as more advice starts to emerge.
For the time-being, the Garden will remain open Monday to Sunday 11am – 7pm.
