
Planting and Using Herbs of the World Workshop
Friday 20 May, 2pm – 5pm
Join Marie Murray from the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden to learn about the many ways herbs are used throughout the world, sample some fresh herbal drinks, and design a miniature herb garden in a recycled fruit crate.

We’re marking the Learning Trust’s ‘Hackney Adult Learners’ Week’ at the Garden, with three free workshops. Although the workshops are free, places do need to be booked in advance, as numbers are limited.
The closing celebration for Adult Learners’ Week will take place at the Garden on Friday 20 May, 12-6pm, with performances and an exhibition of some of the work produced in the many workshops taking place all over Hackney throughout the week.
Hackney Wraps Workshop
Sunday 15 May, 11am to– 6pm (with one hour lunch break)
Create your own headwrap fabric with textile designer Emamoke Ukeleghe. She will teach you how to print fabric using a variety of techniques, including lino, stencil and potato printing. You can bring along your own piece of bedlinen or fabric or use fabric provided by Emamoke.
Part 2 of this workshop will take place as part of the closing event for Adult Learners’ Week on Friday 20 May when all the headwraps will be showcased, demonstrating the wrapping techniques of cultures from around the world.

Hot Tiles Workshop
Sunday 15 May, 11am – 6pm (with one hour lunch break)
Mosaic Artist Dionne Ible of Qemamu Mosaics will be teaching the basics of mosaics, before helping you to put together a mosaic design to help decorate the new clay oven at the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden.
Part 2 of this workshop will take place on Friday 20 May as part of the closing event for Adult Learners’ Week.
