Over the coming weeks, every-day objects such as paper bags and jam jars will be turned into beautiful silhouette lanterns in workshops for adults and for families. Once again our little greenhouse will be transformed into a giant light installation and all of the hand-crafted lanterns will illuminate the Garden and Pavilion on a series of ‘Light Nights’ in December.
This Saturday 15 November, 1- 5pm, (and again on Saturday 22 November, 1-5pm) adults and families can join in making giant sculptural paper lanterns, inspired by fruits, vegetables and seed-pods that we grow in the Garden. The sessions are free and no booking is necessary – just turn up and stay for as long as you like. All we ask is that you leave the lanterns to help light up the Garden on ‘Light Nights’.
The lantern making sessions all take place inside the Pineapple House, with the wood-burning stove keeping everyone cosy. The Garden cafe serves home made soups, hot chocolate and mulled wine, with Latto’s Pizzas from the wood-fired oven on Saturdays and Sundays. You can borrow blankets and hot water bottles if you want to sit outside – so no need to worry about the cold!
