Sunday 9 April, 3-5pm
Hundreds of people have written in recent weeks to the Mayor of Hackney and to Hackney Council’s Planning Department to express how much the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden means to them and the many ways they value it.
These emails have been in response to a Hackney Council consultation on the future of the land and buildings they own in and around Ashwin Street, as part of their proposal to create a ‘Dalston Quarter’. This land includes the crucial entrance area of the Curve Garden, as pictured above. These development plans put the Garden’s future at risk.
The ‘Dalston Quarter’ consultation has been extended until 30 April, so the ‘Speak up for the Dalston Curve Garden’ event is an opportunity for people to share their own experiences of the Garden, to inspire others to give their ‘testimonial’ in support of its future and for us to gather more ‘evidence’ to present to Hackney Council.
Landscape architect Jo Gibbons and architect Liza Fior, who worked with the community in Dalston to help create this Garden in 2010, will join us to share their thoughts about its value as a precious green space.
Latto’s Pizza will have the clay oven fired up, there will be music, there will be badges and as always, everyone is welcome!
Please join us to Speak up for the Dalston Curve Garden!
