Festival of Light: Shadow Lantern workshops

Thursdays 1 & 8 December

FESTIVAL OF LIGHT 2_2014_12

Come along on Thursdays 1 & 8 December to enjoy a ‘Light Night!’ at the Garden and join in a free ‘shadow-lantern’ paper-cutting sessions lead by artist Hyunjung Choi.

Every year we transform our little greenhouse into a magical winter ‘lantern’ with jewel colours and many many individually crafted panels which are made in these workshops. The Lantern Greenhouse is always a much talked about highlight of our Festival of Light!

On 1 December You can make a whole panel or just one piece to join together with others – last year we had toadstools, vegetables, rain-clouds with umbrellas and woodland creatures – all cut out of paper and illuminated at night.

On 8 December you can make a ‘shadow lantern’ using a paper bag. We ask that all the lanterns are left in the Garden for the Festival of Light.

There’s no need to book, just drop in. These sessions are aimed at adults, although older children are welcome to come along. No previous experience is needed.
