Festival of Light: Paper Vegetable Lantern Workshops

Saturdays 21 & 28 November, 1-5pm

LanternMaking1

Its ‘Festival of Light’ time at the Garden again, when once again our little greenhouse will be transformed into a giant lantern,  and lanterns crafted in  workshops for adults and for families will illuminate the Garden on a series of ‘Light Nights’ in December and in the Winter months next year.

On Saturdays 21 and 28 November, 1-5pm adults and families can join in making giant sculptural paper lanterns, inspired by fruits, vegetables and seed-pods that we grow in the Garden. The sessions are free and led by our gardening volunteers.  No booking is necessary, you just turn up and stay for as long as you like, but we do ask that you leave the lanterns to help light up the Garden for the Festival of Light.

The lantern making sessions all take place inside the Pineapple House, with the wood-burning stove keeping everyone cosy. The Garden cafe serves hot chocolate and mulled wine, with Latto’s Pizzas from the wood-fired oven on Saturdays and Sundays. You can borrow blankets and hot water bottles if you want to sit outside – so no need to worry about the cold!
