Saturday 16 April, 2-5pm
We are taking part in Capital Growth’s ‘Big Dig Day’, which encourages people to volunteer in community gardens all over London.
Existing garden volunteers will be on hand to talk to new recruits and you can also join a guided tour of the Garden to learn how it was first created, learn about the food that’s grown here and hear more on all our new plans for this year.
This year we are developing an area with more ‘natural play’ facilities for children, including a mud-pie kitchen, tree logs for climbing, den-making, more bug-hotels and wild-life friendly planting. The Big Dig Day offers volunteers the opportunity to get the space ready for summer, helping cut back shrubs, organising tree logs and preparing the area for planting.
The Big Dig Day launches the new season of weekly Saturday afternoon volunteer sessions at the Garden. If you’d like to help look after the plants, try growing herbs and vegetables, learn new skills or get fit with some digging, this Saturday is a good place to start.
No need to book. Just come along wearing comfortable shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
As always, everyone is welcome!
