The Garden in March

The Garden is currently full of colour and scent with crocus, narcissi and other early flowering spring bulbs popping up in every corner, so we hope to see you here soon!

The Garden and Cafe are open during March on:

Tuesdays: 2-6pm
Wednesdays: 1-6pm
Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays: 1-8pm

As a social enterprise, we generate all of the income needed for the day to day operation and upkeep of the Garden from the proceeds of our Cafe Bar. We serve hot and cold drinks, freshly baked cakes and sweet treats and a range of wine, cider, spirits and beers, many produced in East London. So when you are enjoying any of these while relaxing in the plant filled surroundings of the Garden, you know you are supporting the Garden to stay open and free for all to enjoy as well as helping keep this part of Hackney green and a little bit wild!

We look forward to seeing you at the Garden soon.

You may already know that the Garden runs a weekly support group for older people, many of whom say they often feel isolated. The portraits of some of the group’s members, have been on display this year in our Outdoor Gallery, just outside our front door.

Every Tuesday around 70 people gather together to enjoy each others company and to join in singing and art and crafting activities. They warm up with porridge, hot drinks, and a nutritious hot lunch, all freshly prepared and served by our hard-working cafe team.

As the Garden operates as a social enterprise and most of the income we need to keep open all year round is generated from our Cafe, the winter months are always financially challenging for us. The costs of running the weekly Tuesday group are substantial and we receive no grant-funding, so if you would like to support this vital service, you can make a donation, by clicking on the link below.
