Volunteering at Dalston Curve Garden

Gardening at the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden

Volunteering update, January 2024: We are unable to accept any new volunteers until Spring 2024.

Many thanks for your interest in volunteering at Dalston Curve Garden. We are currently reviewing and rearranging our volunteering programme for this year. This means we are unable to take in any new volunteers until the Spring.

We will update our website when we are ready for our new volunteer recruitment but if you would like to to be added to our waiting list you can fill in the form at the end of this page, and we will be back in touch with you in the Spring.

Please note before applying, our Gardening volunteering sessions run on Saturday afternoons, and we require all of our volunteers to commit to a minimum of two Saturday volunteering sessions a month.

Details of how you may be able to get involved in volunteering here in the future can be found below.

Gardening

Weekly gardening sessions for volunteers take place on Saturday afternoons, 2-5pm.

Our gardening volunteering sessions are an opportunity to look after Dalston Curve Garden, enjoy being outside, meet a group of other volunteers and learn all about plants and gardening. You don’t need to have previous gardening experience, but we do ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of two gardening sessions per month. This means you get to learn about gardening and enjoy all the benefits of volunteering at the Curve Garden and we build a strong, knowledgeable team. Unfortunately if you cannot commit to this requirement, we are unable to offer a volunteering place.

We have unprecedented demand for volunteering places so we give priority to Hackney residents or people who live on the boundaries of Hackney. For non-Hackney residents, we will offer a place once a space becomes free. In the meantime we recommend that you explore opportunities for volunteering in community gardens nearer to your home.

Community workshops and support
Volunteers are crucial to the success of the year-round programme of creative workshops and community events at Dalston Curve Garden, including regular art-based holiday activities for children, cookery workshops, our annual Pumpkin Lantern Festival and our Festival of Light.

If you would like to get involved with any of the above volunteering opportunities, please complete the form below and we will be in touch with you to let you know the next steps.
